Setting — long or short, three sentences or three million — must strive always for concreteness, definition, and vivacity of life. (This is true of stories in general, but Setting is where these aspirations are tested.)
Aspire to concreteness, definition, and vivacity of life because these virtues will grant your Setting and your Story plausibility and facilitate the reader’s attachment and immersion by hijacking the ancient environment-obsessed areas of their minds.
