Loving it. New Urk City. brilliant ability to estrange the familiar just so...one thing that troubles me is how Gilgamek as fleshy as he is can prevail over machines and mechanical beings...but i'm fully on board and so glad to be able to read these. The Tim Fielding drawing/painting is powerful and apt.
I like the calm that comes over G in the middle of the fight! And indeed, already feels like an epic with so many world pressures + internal anger. (Must say, I had a childhood friend who seems very much like G., he loved fights and never once lost—no matter how many jumped him). Needless to say, I’m curious where he’s going.
Always a highlight of my week to read these. Seems like Gilgamek might be walking the same path as his pseudo-namesake toward becoming a tyrant. It's pretty neat how the story uses ostracization and poverty to explain some of those less-than-savory character traits. That art is also sick!
appreciate the encouragement but to be honest this definitely aint a faithful retelling of the Gilgamesh tale—no more than the Prydain books are a faithful retelling of Welsh legends.
Oh, definitely no expectations on that front. Even if it's fun to spot parallels, and as much as I'd love a blossoming bromance with an Enkidu analogue to make an appearance.
I'm turning the pages, loving it!
just want to find out what's next! it's fun learning the lingo of that world.
"...only ever for the worse." We're hitting the Truth portion of the program, folks. It feels like someone is going to have to learn it the hard way.
Yes, now we’re getting deep, right to what matters most. Question Authority. Define your own success.
